"The Art Committee at Duniway is comprised solely of parent volunteers. The committee gathers weekly to discuss and manage the logistics of the art program. At the beginning of the year we focus on reviewing the art curriculum and posting the art lessons to the website. We also clean, organize and inventory the art room and purchase necessary art supplies. The committee also chooses a theme for the current year's art program and organizes a school wide art contest which relates to the current years art theme. The contest winner's art is then used to create a poster which will advertise the art show and be put on the brochures which is handed out to parents, special friends, and guests the night of the art show. As the year progresses, the art committee manages and coordinates over 175 parent volunteers who teach art lessons to the students for the 12 weeks the parent-run art program is in session. After concluding the art program, the committee plans for the annual Duniway Student Art Show. The Art Show is a celebration of the amazing art that Duniway students have created during the art program. |
